First, the original issue was whether to spend less money on a process such as "plastination," which would literally turn you into a "no brainer" in the hope of someone or something rebuilding your brain in the future. This is not a trivial decision. Second, since the odds of cryonics are unknown, the decision to spend money on it is hard to evaluate. If I could get a 99 percent chance of resuscitation for $1 I would be a fool to pass up the opportunity. If I have a .001 percent chance for $1 million, maybe I should use my money for immediate gratification. Since the cost and probabilities lie between these extremes, the decision is nontrivial. Each person would find a different tolerable intersection of the cost-benefit curves. > Message #17477 > Date: 8 Sep 2001 08:16:37 -0000 > From: "clarissa wells" <> > Subject: Is this science? Those of us who remember Clarissa from a decade ago may wonder about freeze.com. It appears to be a business selling clip-art, screen savers, and Windows "wallpaper."
