George, George. It isn't simple at all. First, the original issue was
whether to spend less money on a process such as "plastination," which
would literally turn you into a "no brainer" in the hope of someone or
something rebuilding your brain in the future. This is not a trivial
decision. Second, since the odds of cryonics are unknown, the decision to
spend money on it is hard to evaluate. If I could get a 99 percent chance
of resuscitation for $1 I would be a fool to pass up the opportunity. If I
have a .001 percent chance for $1 million, maybe I should use my money for
immediate gratification. Since the cost and probabilities lie between
these extremes, the decision is nontrivial. Each person would find a
different tolerable intersection of the cost-benefit curves.
