However, I feel he is wrong about China. Unlike islam, China does not have a expansionistic history. In fact they have always been inward-orriented. They do resent the fact that the U.S. is dominant and seek to close the gap. However, unlike muslims, they have no desire to conquer or destroy us. They do ultimately want us out of thier "sphere of influence" which is Asia. I do not feel that they have a hatred of western pop-culture. In fact, both Japanese and American pop-culture is very popular amoung Chinese young people, including those who want to take Taiwan back by force. The Chinese are not much interested in lands beyond the bounds of the "traditional Chinese Empire", but are intensely interested in the Overseas Chinese. However, I don't think that means we have to worry about San Fransisco or Vancouver, BC. Furthurmore, the Chinese do not believe in or practice an expansionary, illiberal meme like islam. The Chinese do have an intense desire to technologically outpace the West. But I do not consider them to be our enemy, unlike Islam, Infact, they do not like islam any more than we do. -------------------------------------------------------------------- _ q l H c E q @ http://mail.kimo.com.tw < E b _ > http://www.kimo.com.tw Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=17584
