Subject: How long do brain cells remain viable after death

According to "Discover" Magazine, August 2001, there is a researcher, FRED
GAGE, at the Salk Institute in La Jolla, Ca, that pulls living brain cells
from brains of corpses that have been dead for 8 hours or longer - and
nurtures the cells until they grow and produce neurons and support cells.
(I think he is trying to produce a replacement for fetal cells???).

He uses all kinds of chemicals and growth factors in his work.

Cryonics researchers may want to contact him and find out what protocal he
is using to see if there are any benefits for cryoncists.
