Understanding terrorists

I must have been too terse in the post about my father being a terrorist,
because it appears that my main point was missed. I don't like most
terrorists myself, because they threaten my way of life. Nor do I think
that all acts of terrorism are the same. My point is that I can understand
other people who find terrorism appealing without having to think that they
are deranged. The unfortunate fact is that we got ourselves into a
situation where there are possibly hundreds of millions of people who liked
what happened last Tuesday.

The consequences of this myopia is that our CIA and FBI profilers did not
believe that intelligent, well educated people who lived in American
suburbia for months could maintain their resolve to be suicide bombers.
Their profile called for a very young, uneducated, psychologically damaged
male.

As cryonicists we seem to be having a similar difficulty. We do not seem to
be willing to accept that it is perfectly rational for people to reject
cryonics, and this hinders our quest to recruit others.
