X-Message-Number: 1779 Date: Sat, 20 Feb 1993 13:44:31 MST From: "Richard Schroeppel" <> Subject: CRYONICS Puzzlement about Ettinger -136C proposal I retreived and read Ettinger's proposal for storage at -136C. Very briefly, he recaps the theory that -136C is a better storage temperature, and then suggests a method for doing it at reasonable cost. He suggests that the patient be wrapped in a conductor+ insulator sandwich, and then floated on pontoons above a pool of LN2. I don't understand why this will equilbrate the patient at -136C. LN2 is -196C, and the vapor shouldn't be much warmer, since it's in direct contact with the liquid. I suspect Ettinger has omitted some obvious detail, or that I walked in on the middle of the discussion. Could someone clue me in?
