It may be necessary to rise above one's "instincts" (the twenty plus year
old "selfish gene" mythos) to do what is one's own best interest for
survival than to follow the crowd.

As a simple example, look at the odds for choosing cryonics over the grave:

6 billion to 300 (+/- 50).

6 billion lemmings CAN be wrong.
