About students reports:

The real issue (and I strongly suspect Mike Perry knows this himself, but he
didn't mention it) with student reports is that of how many of these students
10 years later decide to sign up. One problem with Alcor and cryonics in
general is that people can be aware of the existence of cryonics, and even
the existence of societies, but the incubation time for many (not all) runs
into decades. Alcor has been around long enough now that we might even be
able to get some statistics on the LONG TERM effect of giving students
material with which to write their reports. That would be really interesting.

To Ralph Whelan:

If all those currently working at Alcor are needed, then it must follow that
the yearly dues should be raised. I did point out, in my message, that I
favored a combination of both --- and I would think of doing only one as a
kind of boundary.

And I especially don't mean that we should not investigate other possible
economies. I suggested more use of volunteers as one such economy, and
think that Ralph has not FULLLY dealt with that issue, but even so, I was
not saying that we MUST rely more on volunteers, but that we should look at
doing so.

Incidentally I was very pleased that Alcor actually seems to be having
success in selling CRYONICS through magazine distributors. Is there some
level of sales after which CRYONICS actually starts to make a PROFIT? That
could be one more thing which would help out.
