Regarding telepathy claims I am entirely in agreement with Mike Perry and
reject all the anecdotal claims of Olaf and others about either animals or
humans out of hand. There is simply no scientifically acceptable evidence
for any of them and it is dangerous for cryonicists to associate themselves
with such ideas. It should also be noted that there is a long history of
outright fraud associated with paranormal claims over the years and,
therefore, every reason to be sceptical. I would recommend the monthly
"Sceptical Inquiry" [the CSICOP journal] for those who wish to keep track of
this material with a level head. It is not merely the absence of evidence
that should trouble us but also the lack of any plausible theory based in
scientific knowledge of how such processes MIGHT work. That is what sets
cryonics apart from any number of crackpot religious or utopian schemes: we
have a theory which is scientifically plausible, even though unproven. There
can be no other foundation and it is important to steer clear of fanciful and
illogical premises, regardless of how many people believe in them and
regardless of the volume of anecdotal "evidence" that they heap on their
notions.
