Hi everyone!

Once more. The fundamental book on cryonics remains Bob Ettinger's book,
which can still be obtained from the IMMORTALIST SOCIETY (the last time
I heard).

Yes, in technology it is now backward, but it considers ALL the issues
involved, and so remains worth reading. For that matter, it may humble
us to realize that its technology isn't THAT backward, anyway. Freezing
research was proceeding. Even work on aging was going on. Ettinger
did not consider nanotechnology (unless biotechnology counts as one
kind, which I would certainly say ... though many may disagree). He
envisions repair as being done by gigantic machines, which might take
longer (if we want to do that) but isn't so obviously faulty. You'll
have to read the book to see what I mean here.

Moreover, even though Drexler discusses A technology which might give
us means for repair, he fails to discuss lots of other questions
dealing with cryonics ... which Ettinger does in detail. Cryonics
involves much more than technology, even though it will need
technology too.

And as for its title, it is THE PROSPECT OF IMMORTALITY.

Best wishes and long long life for all,

			Thomas Donaldson
