Subject: Cryonics is religion for me

Religion is not a dirty word.

I want to reinforce George Smith's idea that treating Cryonics like
religion is useful. One of the important roles of religion is to help
people face their mortality. Cryonics plays this role for me. When I
discuss cryonics with people new to the subject, I always tell them that
the prospects of survival via cryonics are uncertain, but as an engineer I
believe that they are better than via going to heaven or being
re-incarnated. That is I present cryonics as my substitute for more common
flavors of religion.

I find that even people who are dead set against the idea find it difficult
not to grant me the priviledge of having cryonics as my religion.
