Date: Thu, 14 Mar 2002 23:06:16 +0100 This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0035_01C1CBAC.D91F38C0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" It might be that the major who is running for reelection next month, just made the offer in a high spirited moment at last weeks festival. But I know first hand that chamber members have seriously discussed getting rid of the older unconstitutional ordinance from 1994. And I have been told that it wouldn't be difficult to have it removed if some one started working for it. If I had still been in Colorado I would have organized a petition and special election to have the ordinance removed a long time ago. Sincerely, Trygve Bauge ----- Original Message ----- From: Bo To: Trygve Bauge Sent: Thursday, March 14, 2002 7:31 PM Subject: Re: Ice runs suggested schedules Tryg.... Nice letter, thanks.... As for the extra billing..... Just wanted you to know that it takes money and effort to do this stuff.... As for the Town of Ned.... Big article today about the Mayor offering *our* space to two French Cryogenically frozen corpses that are being kicked ouy of France.... He offered to recind the ordinance..... Hold a special election and all..... Had a flurry of Media activity.... As for future ice runs..... I'd feel better with a bigger buffer..... I think we should get at least 1800 pounds...... I suggest using *some* of the festival procedes to pump up the buffer.... Then take it one run at a time.... Any schedule is only tentative, due to weather and other job scheduling.... I'm glad you realize my value.... Also realize that I treat this job like all my jobs..... We at Delta always try to do the very best we can for our clients.... You have seen over the years that I *do* have Bredo's best interest in mind..... Always have. I appreciate the input you can give at times, I sometimes resent that we don't get paid enough...I sometimes resent you butting in in things you are not aware of..... But over all we seem to have a better relationship than we ever had before..... Keep up the good work, and so will we. Bo ----- Original Message ----- From: Trygve Bauge To: Bo ; Cc: Sent: Thursday, March 14, 2002 8:15 AM Subject: Ice runs suggested schedules To Bo, (copy to Deb at the Chamber), Bo, originally we were set for the following dry ice schedule, weren't we: ice run March 21st (maybe extra ice to build up the buffer? 1600 lbs? What do you think?) then 5 weeks Ice run April 25th 1500 lbs? then 5 weeks Ice run May 30th (extra ice because of Summer) Maybe 1600 lbs, what do YOU think? then 5 weeks Ice run July 3rd 1500 lbs? then 4 weeks, (Hot in July you know) Ice run August 1st 1500 lbs? 4 weeks (still hot in August) Ice run August 29th 4 weeks (might snow in September in Nederland) Ice run September 26th then 5 weeks again for the winter. I know I suggested a different schedule in my last e-mail, but that is because I thought my grand father would get USD 200 pluss 10% of USD 1200 or a tottal of USD 320 from the festival. That would have enabled a different schedule. So now we are back to the original schedule, trying to make the best out of that instead, which might require more dry ice now on the 21st and at the end of May. Or what do you think? Since the buffer is low I suggest we add extra dry ice now on the 21st (e.g at least 1500 lbs) and then 1500 lbs each time hence. we send the reguler 674 today, 18 bank, 30 assistant, 10 car, 200 you, 33 tax 412.50 for 1500 lbs of dry ice, total 703.50 usd 674 plus usd 29.50= USD 703.50 if you thus subtract USD 29.50 from the USD 173.50 each month, then we should be able to add 1500 lbs each run for the next 6 runs? or 4 months if we add 1600 lbs at to occations too. Would this work out for you? sincerely, Trygve Bauge Ps. I will consider your festival proposals, Have had several suggestions to the Chamber myself about revoking the old ban on more cryonic storage before next year's festival, and regarding a media package that sets the story facts right, etc. Thus I will be working with them towards next year's festival. Hope to be working with you too. (Will try not to micromanage, but want to look after my grandfather too.) Thanks for doing a good job, and for getting the festival under way. As far as subtracting anything from the USD 173.50 for festival expenses (you mentioned guards, propane, cleaning etc), I don't like that Idea at all. After all the Chamber AND YOU both spread the notion to the media that parts of the festival proceeds should go towards adding dry ice on my grandfather. I have seen many media reporting that all the proceeds or half the proceeds of the festival goes to my grand father. I don't know where they got those ideas from, but certainly someone at the festival must have given them the impression. It was also reported in the Denver media that 50 percent of the touring fee went to dry ice for my grandfather, so someone at the tours must have said that to the media. Many media asked me if I felt that we were taken advantage of, by the festival organizers, to which I answered that as long as a fair share of the proceeds goes to my grandfather's upkeep then I support the festival. The media are now asking how much my grandfather actually got from the festival. Don't let me have to report back to them, that my grandfather got even less than the USD 200 pluss the 10% of the touring fee that we were promissed, or that you even used his share for other expenses than dry ice. For the claim that procceds from the festival goes towards his storage, for such claims to be credible, they have to be factual too. Ps. The festival grossed around USD 10,000 and the chamber of commerce made a few thousand dollars. 44 people toured the facilty at USD 25 each, about 2000 visited the festival and the 500 t-shirts were sold out the first day. ----- Original Message ----- From: Bo To: Sent: Thursday, March 14, 2002 9:17 AM Subject: Finals..... Tryg.... Met with the Chamber today....... Here's the tally: Tours......40 paid (44 total.....2 media were comped and one tour had only two Norwegians who just happeded by when there were no other tourists....I had a good time with them and it worked out that they got their tour free.....;-) Total money.......$1000 Your 10%........................................100 Chamber.........................................450 Bo (Not Delta)................................450 Raffle.... Didn't do as well as planned, plus the prize was changed at the last minute..... The winners (4 plus the winner of the Grandpa look alike contest....;-) will get to accompany me on an ice run.....therefore no extra box opening.... *I* get to deal with these people on the ice run......pick them up, etc. Anybody gonna pay me to do this extra work? Did *I* get any cut of the money for this? Anyway..... The original deal (before you horned in....;-( was for there to be $200 taken from the raffle proceeds to pay for extra ice to allow opening of the box.... Since there was not any extra box opening, there is really no need for the $200. However, the Chamber felt that your Grandfather deserved to be reimbursed....they agreed to split the raffle take 50-50. There was some controversy about whether it was $143 or $147.....the Chamber decided to go with the higher figure....this took 20 minutes to decide.. Thus they added $73.50 to the Ice fund...... I have a check for $173.50 from the Chamber...... We can put this into a special account and continue to add to it.....use it when we need to, maybe spend half on some extra ice this time. Or, as I imagine you will do.....we can just use it all up this coming ice run..... Let me know what you want to do..... Generally speaking the Festival was minimal money maker...... Chamber figures they made maybe 1-2 thousand.....after expenses like insurance (for the tour, too....) porta potties, (I heard that was $1000 all by itself) radios ($1200) ...etc. They had a hell of a lot of *volunteer* workers, too...... Total attendance was estimated at 600-1000 on Saturday...... No real crowds on Sunday, but a steady flow of people. Weather was critical...... Big snow storm on Friday kept a lot of people away, I think. Something to keep in mind for the future FDG DAys....WEATHER can make or break the event.... General consensus was that it was great, but many things to improve... I thought it was pretty good for a first festival to even show a profit. Don't forget, Tryg.... All of us worked our Butts off over here..... It's not an easy thing to do...... You just sit there and collect a piece of the action..... Any time *you* want to come over here and take it over...it's all *yours*.....really! I'll get this whole deal put together and make it grow....... ...and some day you can walk in and take it all over. It would make my wife extremely happy.....;-) I'm real tired of it all..... The FDG Days were kinda fun.....but I'll always be the Iceman. I would really rather that you were here to do all the bullshit..... Then *I* could sit back and take a percentage and let *you* do all the work......Yowza!! Anyway..... It's late..... That's my report You must have just gotten up.... Havn't heard from you about my proposal..... Ice run next week.... Back to business as usual....
