CryoNet: I wanted to recommend reading the lead article in Scientific American for this month on Atherosclerosis and the Heart. It's real good. For one it explains how Asprin does more than just thin the blood in contributing to a healther vascular system and heart. (I have been taking 150 mg. of asprin & 20 mg. of Zocor for some time and plan to continue.) It dispels past erroneous thinking about the cause and explains why conventional techniques like angioplasty are not very effective. It describes what is happening on a molecular level *inside* the vessel walls, and the mechanism behind sudden clotting incidents which set off many unexpected heart attacks and strokes in otherwise healthy people. It rings very true to me. I checked the website to see if the story might be posted (like TIME does), but it is a "pay for view" arrangement there. However, if you go to the following link you will find some good information on Nanotechnology (which I am going to check out a bit now for a while). You will be able to see a photograph of this months issue. You might decide to buy it or download the article (at $5.00, I believe). http://www.sciam.com/nanotech/ ____________________________ I mentioned that I plan to post some information on Lyme Disease and its association with some disturbing revelations (at least to me) regarding Medical Politics in the States. I will shorten the post and send it before long. I think it is relevant for a couple of reasons which I will explain when send it. I've been preparing for delivering some out-of-town expert witness testimony as an appraiser for a contested condemnation case for the last few days and will start in the morning, so it might be at the end of the week before I post. However, if anyone has some time in the meantime and would like some interesting reading on one truly extraordinary and highly bothersome organism, go ahead and checkout the following URL. I have notes from about 18 hours of studying the situation recently after someone on another forum mentioned that he had the disease and how nasty it is. I may post several exchanges from that forum and put them up on one of my websites and give the URL to that location here rather than clog up the CryoNet. One of my interests is attempting to kick the butts of a spirochete disease or two. Pipe dream? Probably, but you never know... Look for the following text on the URL I will list below. I believe this guy, Tom Grier, knows what he is talking about. Taking his 4 part Tutorial is a good starting point to get the idea. Complexities of Lyme Disease: A Microbiology Tutorial Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 This series contains four excerpts from Tom Grier's 1997 version of his Lyme Disease Survival Manual. Mr. Grier does a great job in explaining, in 'plain English', the complex microbiology of Lyme disease. http://www.lymealliance.org/medical/micro/micro.php ______________________________ Doug Skrecky: If you read this post, is it true that fruit flies have no cellular antioxidant mechanisms?
