Please look up the Ford Convertiplane from 1972. Thare are no flying cars because of FAA refusal to certify ANY design that would be produced in large numbers (Ford was going to start with 50,000) and overwhelm the antiquated ATC system. Your point about AI is well taken, however. We will probably get AI before flying cars. Given progress in my field, we will probably get flying pigs before flying cars.
