Hi everyone!

Science fiction writers and fans may be interesting to cryonicists
from another angle, too. The point is, it's simply not enough to come
up with some highly general explanation for why people don't take
it up... such as ideas about memes. A good explanation should also
tell us why some groups (computer programmers) are much more favorable
than others (sci fi fans and authors).

We do have to be careful here, though. As a group, sci fi fans and 
writers probably make less on average than computer programmers, so
to some extent their decision not to sign up may come simply from
economics. I doubt that economics gives anything like a complete
explanation, but any good study would try to exclude such factors
from consideration ... perhaps by studying only those sci fi fans and
authors who make, on average, as much as computer programmers, for
instance.
