Subject: Sci fi fans/ funding/signing up

Thanks to all who commented on my posting, many very insightful and thought
provoking ideas. Perhaps, and it may sound weird, most people aren't made to
be immortal, or they don't want to be. Odd to think, how we all presume that
everyone wants to live- but how many times do you see idiots deliberately
walk in front of your car, without looking, presuming you will see them and
stop?

Certainly, if it becomes mainstream, it will be more acceptable. I still,
very strongly, believe that cryonics orgs are NOT doing everything possible
to ensure ease of signing up. Its a pain for people to hunt down their own
insurance policies, and people on a budget find it painfully expensive to
even think about hiring a lawyer. I would propose that cryonics orgs would
consider providing lawyers for modest fees for boilerplate wills, trusts,
etc. And why not contract for life insurance with an insurer? You wouldn't
have to require people to use your insurance, but it might make things much
easier for people to sign up. And its easy to use the web for these
services- even the legal services. I mean, have you even talked to Jacoby and
Myers about setting up a service for this? I don't mean to provoke, I
appreciate ALL that people do, but from an objective point of view, I stongly
think the biggest stumbling block is cryonics orgs, when someone looks at it
with interest, should say, call or email our legal service, or here's a
pointer to our insurance provider... the cryonics orgs should provide the
follow through, and the full service, just like McDonalds... when you walk
into McDonald's for lunch, they don't tell you you need to bring your own
serving trays, straws and drink cups.

best,
Mike Donahue
