Subject: Stock & Grigg

Just a couple of quickies concerning John Grigg's report of the Stock
interview:

1. Variances in individuals and populations--

Certainly there are quantitative (and sometimes qualitative) differences
between species, between races or varieties or sub-species (breeds of dogs,
for example), between families, and between individuals. Sensitivity about
this is ridiculous and boring. I am Caucasian, but I believe the statistics
that tell me Orientals on average are smarter. So what? Who cares? There are
lots of people smarter than I am, and even more dumber, in all races.
Eventually, everyone will be optimized, except those who choose not to be.

2. China and India together are likely to overpower us with brains in coming
decades--unless we expand our efforts to bribe their best to come here. This
could be critical.
