Every cell of the body (except red blood cells) contains the complete genetic instructions for the entire individual. It would be very simple to store a few cells , they would take up almost no room and would not even have to be frozen, a fixation solution such as glutaraldehyde would render a person's genetic code readable for centuries at least and probably much more. I realize that none of the individuals memories would be preserved and so is far inferior to our present methods, but I also realize it would be enormously cheaper and easier. Think of it as a Cryonics starter kit. Contrary to popular opinion survival is probably not a all or nothing matter and for those who can not afford the present options it would be far better than nothing. [ Also, for those who are satisfied with just clones of themselves, the genetic contribution can be made at any time, not just upon pronouncement of legal "death". - KQB ] Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=1932
