D. Smith Katie Kars Jerry Searcy Chuck W. True Richard Kars Maria Searcy KATIE'S CLUB HOUSE Our regular second Sunday meeting will be held at Katie's club house on the third Sunday of the month to avoid a conflict with Katie's schedule. It will be held at 1 P.M. on March 21st. Additional information can be found on the flyer attached to this newsletter. DUES It has been decided that Alcor Nevada will be charging $25/month dues to help pay for a Pizer Tank and other medical supplies. Please bring your money to our next meeting or at least mail in a check! MERCY AMBULANCE I called Mercy Ambulance to make a slight change to Katie Kars' listed name. It turns out that none or nearly none of our names were in their database!!! I believe that I have now solved this problem. NEW DIMENSIONS IN CRYONICS: CRITICAL ISSUES FOR THE 21ST CENTURY Alcor Laughlin decided to officially sponsor this conference. The following people donated $20 each to sponsor the conference: Katie Kars, Eric Klien, Don Laughlin, the Putirkas, and the Searcys. DOCTORS AND MORTICIANS It was decided that the best way to find doctors was to contact them through personal contacts since doctors normally don't return phone calls. J.D. Smith will have the best chance at accomplishing this since he is a doctor. In addition, I will do a mailing to various groups of doctors in the near future. This mailing list is already under construction by an employee of mine. Alcor Laughlin is looking for doctors to both 1) pronounce medical death and 2) do the stabilization protocol. I am doing a mailing to all five morticians in Las Vegas that may be interested in working with us, sending a blue book and a letter to each one. I hope to have an update on their responses by the next meeting. FEAR OF DOCTORS PROMPTS WOMAN TO REFUSE AUTOPSY We discussed this Ann Landers column which said "That Nevada law demands and autopsy ONLY if the person or next of kin requests it, if the person dies under suspicious circumstances, or if her body is donated to science." The column also said "[It is] suggested that you indicate in your will that you do not want an autopsy and make sure your friend, son and attorney each have a copy." PUBLICITY A mailing to the Nevada inquiry list generated one new person who attended this meeting. A fourth mailing to the Nevada inquiry list will be made for our next meeting.
