Here is a link http://news.com.com/2100-1001-947432.html to an article that
discusses the NSF's report on
converging technologies, basically saying everything we've said all along.

Available here, all 405 pages of it.

I'm tickled the government finally gets it but it could also be a bad thing
since so many conservatives are

deciding policy on scary, to them, subjects like genetic germline manipulation,
stem cell therapy and

therapeutic cloning. Smug in there convictions and narrow minded views they
embrace Jeremy Rifkin and Bill

Joy more than they do, say, Ray Kurzweil or the Foresight Institute. They do so
at the peril of our

technological advasntage and the economy. Of course they're tanking the economy
already, IMHO.

A FAVORITE quote: Last lines of the first Star Trek the Next Generation movie.

Capt. Picard: "What we leave behind is not as important as how we've lived,
after all Number One, we're only
mortal."
Will Ryker: "Speak for yourself captain, I intend to live forever!"
