X-Message-Number: 19732 Date: Fri, 9 Aug 2002 04:39:38 -0700 (PDT) From: Driven FromThePack <> Subject: latest legal moves in Williams case http://news.mywebpal.com/partners/577/public/news343166.html The above is the most detailed story I have seen on the latest legal moves in this case. It is from the Citrus County newspaper (Inverness, FL) where all this happening. Below are some quoted excerpts: On Thursday, Cassidy withdrew his petition, stating now that he s seen the pact and proof of its legitimacy, he no longer doubts that Ted Williams wanted to be frozen. Attached to the withdrawal notice was a copy of a report from a Miami forensic document examiner. She was hired by Robert Goldman, a Naples attorney hired by John-Henry and Claudia Williams. An affidavit from Claudia Williams was also attached. In Linda Hart s report dated July 29, she states that she compared Ted Williams signature on the pact to several known handwriting samples like cancelled checks, a letter, autographed memorabilia, address book pages and hospital authorization records. Hart found that the signature on the pact was compatible with the other signature samples. In Claudia Williams affidavit, signed Aug. 6, she states that she was in her father s hospital room in Gainesville when they signed the pact. He said she was the last one to sign. Although I am not a doctor, it is my opinion that when my father verbally expressed his desire to be cryonically preserved in bio-stasis he understood the concept and that there was no guarantee of being resuscitated in the future, she wrote. Similarly, when he executed the separate writing just moments later, he knew what he was doing. Finally, I have no financial benefit from the disposition of my father s body. Cassidy s move Thursday hasn t halted court proceedings entirely. A hearing is set for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, for a judge to rule on Goldman s motion for a protective order. Goldman wants to stop Ferrell s attorney, Richard Spike Fitzpatrick, from obtaining Ted Williams medical records. ... We are very disappointed that Mr. Cassidy decided to do that when we believe there are so many questions left to be answered, he said. Bobby Jo Ferrell will not allow Mr. Cassidy to end this investigation by withdrawing his petition. Fitzpatrick said they intend to file a petition of their own in the coming days to keep the court process moving. He said it would likely be a petition asking the court to order Cassidy to enforce the terms of the will. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
