Subject: 14 Good Years Of Procrastination ...
From: Peter Merel <>

When I was 26 I made my first post to cryonet. #24. I was living on my
own in Sydney, and it was easy to procrastinate. After all, the nearest
org was 12,000 miles away with no interest in freezing foreigners. Also
I was desperately in love with the wrong girl, and it was a very good
year.

When I was 31 I was a cryonet/sci.l.e regular. Some US orgs, notably CI,
had made suspension arrangements with undertakers in Australia. But
setting up an insurance policy from around the other side of the world
was daunting, so I kept procrastinating. Also I married and imported my
wonderful American darling Lori, and it was a very good year.

When I was 35 I declared on cryonet an intent to sign up with Cryocare,
and shortly after attended the conference where Fahy and Wowk announced
their vitrification results. I met giants - Kent, Platt, Harris and
Darwin. Procrastination was getting a lot harder to keep up! Also I
moved wife and cats to San Diego, and it was a very good year.

But now I'm 40, and nowhere near done with what I aim to do. I'm in fine
health, but can procrastinate no more. I started signing paperwork in
May, and this morning received an Alcor bracelet in the mail. Also I'm
working on some secret stuff that might help speed the day we can start
reviving folks ... among other things. And it's a very good year.

Apologies to Sinatra's estate, thanks to Rudi & Dawn Hoffman, Jennifer
Chapman, and the other fine folk at Alcor. Also to Kevin Q. Brown and
Mike Darwin, whose clarity and drive made me take cryonics seriously
those good years ago.

Peter Merel.
