I think the minimum bet is something like $1000--and the "pot" is kept in a trust fund that is carefully invested. IMHO this might be an interesting way for someone to donate money to Alcor--specially, around some event that is going to be clearly of "public importance" like the successful reanimation of a mammal from liquid nitrogen temperatures in the next 50 years. There are some problems with www.longbets.org.
