This is by definition true. However, are oil and gas mainly "fossil"
fuels?

Proven reserves of oil and gas have been increasing since records have
been kept. And keep in mind that these are "proven" reserves. What point
is there for a company to spend money to prove it has oil in reserve for
more than 30 years?

In terms of real economic value, the cost of energy has been falling
thru out history (long-term trends, local shortages are great profit
opportunities.)

An alternative hypothesis is that methane is evolving from deep inside
the Earth. It has been suggested that this evolution drives the movement
of the crustal plates. There is evidence of deep gas from measurements.
Also, there are places in the Caspian Sea region where oil has been
bubbling out of the ground for over 100,000 years - a finite near
surface source is ruled out by this.

However, the perception of shortage is crucial to maintaining high
prices and profits, motivating otherwise pointless, for the tax payer,
interventions in other countries, etc. All of the evidence says "no
shortage." So, this looks like an other case of "over population," that
is, an attempt to distract attention from corrupt practices by a ruling
elite by claiming a physical cause of shortages and high prices.
