First, I note that this Cryonet once more contains
discussion of nuclear wastes. Please don't tempt me,
please.

Second, a bit more on freezing criminals: IF society
comes to believe that suspension will actually work,
that will change lots of ideas. It can, after all,
be seen as a much less expensive way to put someone
in prison.

Not only that, but just like medical insurance will
pay for your medical treatment, we'll soon see
insurance companies inventing a modified version
of life insurance, called suspension insurance. It
pays for your suspension if you need it. Such
insurance would be just as profitable, perhaps more
profitable than life insurance. Many people don't
take out life insurance because of its associations
with death, while suspension insurance will be
associated with continued life. I do not believe
that verified ability to suspend would interfere
for very long with anyone's ability to pay for their
suspension. There MIGHT be a short-term problem;
by that time, with their increased resources, the
cryonics societies might themselves be able to help
with that short term problem. Members who are
involved with life insurance cos might very well
promote that new suspension insurance, too.

Best wishes and long long life for all,

                 Thomas Donaldson
