X-Message-Number: 20321 Date: Wed, 16 Oct 2002 07:57:34 -0400 From: Thomas Donaldson <> Subject: CryoNet #20311 - #20316 Hi again! Perhaps it's because my message on the subject of freezing criminals arrived too late for many on Cryonet to read it before they put out their own comments. However the essential point was that anyone who arranged to be suspended to escape punishment for murder would find that doing so simply did not work. He would be met by doctors ready to cure him of his criminal tendencies on his revival. And if we still punish in the future, then he would also be met by suitable authorities to carry out his punishment (I myself think we'll outgrow punishment, but that's another issue). And naturally such things could only happen in a society in which cryonics had become widespread. Yes, Steve Bridge, I meant my comments to be a small exploration into what might happen when cryonics becomes widespread and often successful. I do not think that any present cryonics society should spend more than a few minutes on considering this possibility. Best wishes and long long life, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=20321
