X-Message-Number: 2041 From: (Robert D Grahame) Subject: CRYONICS new drug Date: Tue, 30 Mar 93 20:15:51 GMT I recently read an article which may point to a useful new drug for preventing damage in the time between death and perfusion. Dr Peter Lewis at UK company Bio-T at Oxford have developed a drug BB-882 which affects Platelet Activation Factor which stops the 'shock' reaction which starts when platelets bind to healthy cells. This is, I guess, the same reaction that sets in after 'real' death causing the damage of ischemia. BB-882 has already been given to healthy people without side effects, and is now going into formal tests. Source 'The Sunday Telegraph' News page 5, March 28, 1993. -- Bob Grahame, Streatham, London.
