X-Message-Number: 2043 Subject: CRYONICS Thermocouple Cooling? Date: Wed, 31 Mar 93 08:50:22 EST From: Brian Wowk mentioned recently that in his cold room design, it would be cheaper to provide all of the cooling using electrically powered thermocouples when electricity is available, and to only have the liquid nitrogen to deal reliably with power failures. Does the same argument apply to existing dewars? I understand that liquid nitrogen costs are a small fraction of maintenance costs, so at best it would be a small savings. But it would be neat if such an unconventional approach were actually economical. Tim Freeman Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=2043
