X-Message-Number: 20894 Date: Thu, 16 Jan 2003 21:28:00 -0600 Subject: More Ignorance In Ottawa IL From: Joesph A Zarka <> Kevin Foster, a member of the write team of my local paper wrote what may be the most ignorant article on cryonics ever. His first ten paragraphs bashes Clonaid, which I agree with. However he does not stop there. Here is what he has to say about cryonics. "Speaking of fools, baseball great Ted Williams' body has been frozen by his son for some reason. I still don"t understand why this was done. Is he on the Clonaid board of directors? Is he planning on selling his father"s DNA to produce a race of .400 hitters? Would they all play on the same team? Should that team be the Minnesota Twins? Why anyone believes thier body or sometimes just their head would be better off frozen than buried is beyond me. I trust the cryogenic people even less than the cloners. At least with the cloners you"ll see something for your money even if it doesn't look like you. I'd love to take a vacation to the South Pacific and run naked in the surf of some Polynesian island some day. For about the same amount of money, I could have someone lop off my head and stick it in a freezer after I'm dead. Now, if I should opt for the cryogenics, there's no guarantee anyone is ever going to do anything with my frozen head. But they'll have my vacation cash just the same. So before I sign on the dotted line I'll need to have my head examined. I'm sure they'll do that every time they defrost their equipment. Maybe I'm being too critical about all this. Maybe I really do have an alien clone somewhere in Ohio. Maybe we all should stick our heads in the freezer. Well, some of us should." Is it possible to be more Ignorant? Perhaps we should hold a contest on cryonet and find out. Mr. Foster can be contacted at drop him an e-mail he needs to be put in his place. If anyone would be interested we have a section in our paper called the Voice Of The People. You could write letters to the editor concerning this article and show our community how ignorant this idiot is. It is a small paper so most letters do get published. There are a few rules. It must be 300 words or less, letters must contain the writers city and phone number and be signed. The Daily Times 110 W.
