CALL FOR PRESENTERS

The New York Transhumanist Association (NYTA) is proud to announce a one-day
transhumanist symposium at New York University. The symposium, titled "World
Futures: The Science of Humanity in the Epoch of Technology", will be from 4-10
pm on Friday, February 21. This event is sponsored by Colleges Against Cancer,
and organized by NYTA.

We are seeking 2-3 featured speakers (50-minute talks) and 8-12 panelists
(10-minute presentations). Proposed topics include:

HUMAN LIFE EXTENSION: How long can humans live? What are the extension options?
How much progress is being made? Is death necessary?

ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES AND RESPONSES: How much more damage can the biosphere
take? Will emerging technologies be able to repair and sustain our eco-systems?

DIRECTED EVOLUTION OF HUMANITY: How are modern science and emerging
technologies (bioengineering, nanotech, AI) changing humans? How are our human
choices expanding?

MORPHOLOGICAL FREEDOM: Who should have the right to control choices? Should
experimental augmentations--whether physical, emotional, or intellectual--be
limited in any way? What about human cloning?

FUTURE DEFINITIONS OF "HUMAN": What will it mean to be human in 2050? Could
computers, robots, or other artificial intelligences advance to the point where
they might claim human rights?

If you will be in the New York area on February 21, and would like to be a
speaker or a panelist, please contact Hatuna Pokrovskaia, Founder and President
of Colleges Against Cancer (and NYTA's Director of Science and Technology
Research) at

You can learn more about the symposium at
http://incipientposthuman.com/symposium.htm. Unfortunately, because this is a
student-sponsored event, we can't offer any honorariums or speaker fees, so
everyone will be pro bono.

We look forward to hearing from you!
