There are both Heat shock protein complexes (HSP) and cold shock protein
compexes(CSP). Yvan made a good point at how important these complexes are
and a novel mechanism for augmentation. Interestingly humans have the abiliy
to make several of bot HSP and CSP's. When exposed to high body temps (45C)
for a brief time we augment the production of HSP's. Brief immersion in
water below (6C) does the same for CSP's. Many plants, nematodes, and
microbes survive repetative freezing by use of CSP's. Realisticly humans
can't produce anywhere near the concentration necessary for complete
cyroprotection, but wouldn't it be productive to augment the production of
CSP's prior to cyropreservation? It would be positive from a pro-longevity
standpoint.
