Subject: Flies and Bee Pollen
From: Peter Merel <>

Hi Doug,

The last couple of weeks I've been replacing my multivitamin intake
with fresh bee pollen.

I'm generally pretty cautious with the supplements I use, but try new
ones regularly enough to know the difference between placebo and
significant change in my physiology. The effect of this stuff on mental
clarity and general feelings of health is so profound I'm amazed at how
little I've been able to find about it online.

There are claims bee pollen is a perfect food, stuffed with various
kinds of phytonutrient you can't get elsewhere, good for lots of
ailments, and by itself sufficient for optimal rat nutrition. I've seen
various claims made for "potentiated" bee pollen - but nothing to
suggest "potentiation" has been scientifically checked for any real
effect, good or ill.

I'm planning a trip up to UCSD tomorrow to see if I can dig out
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/
query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=11951585&dopt=Abstract ...
for now all I can really say is that the stuff I've got is just freshly
scraped off bee legs, and I'm very happy with its immediate effects.
I'd be most interested in how it might work with your flies.

Peter Merel.
