My thanks to Francois, Donaldson, and Ettinger for their answers. They
do help clear up the subject for me. I am looking forward to seeing the
results of C.I.'s study.

WRT to cheap insurance: unfortunately, I live in Wisconsin, and the
reason I am having trouble with insurance is that I am unemployed from a
job which didn't pay much to start with (although the insurance was
fairly reasonable, for the most part). Getting to Mexico is not a very
realistic option. (And thanks to the Great Lakes, Canada is a bit far,
as well.)

The cheap, monthly insurance is a much more realistic option-- the
trouble is, I don't know how to go about looking for it. Considering how
screwed over I got by a local car dealer in 2002, I am more than a little
concerned about my abilities in locating a good deal in health insurance.

After having worked in a hospital which went from public to private while
I was there, me too.
