Subject: Alcor operations

While I share everyone's concern about the shocking news about Jerry
Lemler's health, after talking just now with Paula Lemler I must emphasize
that we do not have a conclusive diagnosis at this time. There is evidence
of cancer that has metastased, but until the biopsy reports are in, there
is no specific prognosis. Personally of course I am still hoping for cure
or remission.

In the meantime I must assure Alcor members that our ability to provide
service is unchanged. Jerry had delegated most of the everyday tasks of
supervising our service to me, while Michael Riskin has been dealing with
the financial issues. Our lab staff will be augmented with neuroscience
student (soon to be neuroscience graduate) Todd Huffman as of June 1st,
and I hope to enhance our capabilities at Alcor during the next months.

I must add that it was Jerry's willingness to take a chance and give me
virtual carte blanche that has enabled us to upgrade our standby
capability and initiate the improvements at Alcor Central. Without his
strong support, little of this would have been possible.

I will be placing additional information in an imminent issue of Alcor
News (subscribe at www.alcornews.org).
