I received some copal today. Copal is the present day form of amber, or amber
is the fossilized form of copal. This is a polymerized form of a sap
derivative from tropical conifers. It contains some very strong
anti-oxidants, some antibiotics and antifungic compounds. A similar product
was used by ancien chineses as mummy conservator. After millenia they are the
best preserved ones in the world.

There have been periodic talks about alternative to cryonics, for example
freeze drying. The chemical fixation/conservation may be the best and
cheapest solution.

It could first be used for animals and in countries such France where law is
very restrictive about cryonics.

I don't think copal conservation would allows living again, it could be
sufficient to keep the DNA and open the way to making a cloned body.
Conserved brain structure would let open the brain scanning/uploading option.

I ^plan to test it for conservation, food additive, pitch remplacement for
optical parts making and even as cheap fuel rocket!

Yvan Bozzonetti.
