Apologies if I missed some discussion - can you tell me why this is? 
It seems obvious that if we could vitrify whole bodies we could 
resuscitate patients without waiting for nanotech - just thaw them out
and attach the jumper leads, no?

This brings a couple of questions to mind. First, could we just section
the patient into appropriate sized chunks and vitrify them, and sort of
crazy-glue them back together and resuscitate? With current technology?
Could we thaw a vitrified person out and revive them without causing 
further ischemia? 

If such things were possible, you could freeze and section a chimp, then
assemble and revive it a few months later - and if you could do that you'd 
get funding for cold rooms the size of the great pyramid.
