  Mark, Simon didn't say that the tragedy of the commons wouldn't kill off 
all our food fish. There is no technical reason that the oceans cannot be made 
more productive of food. Twenty years ago I read in an aquaculture book that 
Chesapeake Bay could produce five times the world's annual production of 

seafood... if Chesapeake Bay were a private mussel farm. Nothing has changed 
since; 
at sea, humans are still destructive hunter-gatherers, just like our forebears 
that killed off the Pleistocene megafauna.
