As I have already said, and suggested a book to read on the subject, there has been considerable work on unifying QM and GR, and along the way this work gets rid of the infinities in both theories. To repeat, the book is by Leo Smolin, THREE ROADS TO QUANTUM GRAVITY. Best wishes and long long life to all, Thomas Donaldson PS: The opposition to infinities isn't to infinities of time or space ie. the possibility that we could travel forever and never come back to our starting point, but to LOCAL infinities, for instance of gravitational force.
