Messages containing HTML codes, "rich text", word processor formats,
PDFs, attachments, etc, should never be emailed to anyone except by
explicit prearrangement. Increasing numbers of people are doing
as I do and simply routing all such messages to the trash, unread,
as protection against spam, viruses, worms, trojan horses, web bugs,
and utterly gigantic messages which consume all one's disk space and
download time. Like most people, I use email to send and receive
reasonable sized plain text messages only.

Even if not discarded, messages are likely to look like total
gibberish unless the recipient has the exact same software and
hardware as you do.

Oddly, some mailers actually default to sending HTML or attachments
without telling the sender. If you suspect yours might be doing so,
please see http://www.expita.com/nomime.html for instructions on how
to fix it.

If people haven't been replying to your messages as much as they
used to, that might be why. It could be you've only been talking
to yourself.

I always welcome replies to my e-mail, postings, and web pages, but
unsolicited bulk e-mail (spam) is not acceptable. Please do not send me
HTML, "rich text," or attachments, as all such email is discarded unread.
