Bearing in mind the many uncertainties surrounding the issues James raises in
this thread and the costs that would be incurred if we all went off and set
up our own trusts. Would it not make sense to set up a 'collective' trust that
was available to all signed up Alcor members that would benefit everyone by
being more cost effective in terms of management fees and would also afford
better returns upon investment as larger sums are more efficient to place?

I am not a lawyer or an accountant but did look into the 'Lichtenstein' type
of trust arrangements some time ago but discounted them as not being
financially practical for those of us with more modest asset values.

Also.... I would rather the profits gained from the management side of the
arrangements were somehow reinvested into cryonics rather than fancy offices

and fancy pay cheques..... Alcors long term contingency fund maybe. I dunno,
but one thing is for sure it is speculative to say the least to try to

determine just how long you should plan for when their are so many unknowns to
take
into account. I for one would feel more comfortable if the trust funds and
assets were being managed by fellow cryonauts.

Regards.....
