The point you make about paid employees is not unreasonable, however, as far as I am aware the vast majority of paid employees working in the cryonics field are also signed up members and I have no problem putting my trust in them. Outsiders coming in as 'hired hands' ??......... I'm not so sure about, particularly now....... 'post LJ'. I can see the lure of big media bucks being irresistible to those that hinge their loyality on the dollar. The problem, as I understand it, is that the pay is so bad that they appear to have to go get a 'normal' job in order to afford a reasonable standard of living AND still be able to afford to keep up their financial commitment in order that they too can be suspended come the time. Maybe we all should be prepared to give up a couple of years and pitch in on a rota basis. however, training up staff for short periods of duty would probably not be cost effective. If I were in cryonics as a 'business' rather than a 'life' venture I would say that the solution is most likely solvable by diversification into parallel products/services that would allow us to make better use of our existing assets and expertise. This, I believe, is the most efficient way of extending profits whilst lowering 'unit' costs, a scenario that both employees and clients would benefit from. Then again.... I guess if it were that simple Alcor would already be doing it. Problem is coming up with the 'parallel' products and services without relying upon megabuck investment. Regards..... Tim.
