Its most likely caused by the solar output cycle. Reducing CO2 emissions is likely to have little effect on global warming. Also the Russians have decided that the Kyoto treaty is twaddle and are not going to sign it. The head of the Russian Academy of Sciences was quoted as saying that the only people adversly affected by the demise of the Kyoto treaty are those few thousand people who make their living attending global warming conferences. I thought the whole CO2 global warming thing was as much twaddle and junk science as cold fusion. Best to put it behind us and get on with life. Population: It is amazing that people still think that population growth is a valid argument against life-extension. Where do these people come from. Its been obvious to me since the beginning that if we can remain (or restore ourselves to) a physiological age of 25 years old forever, that people will live the youth-oriented, bohemian life-style that 25 year olds tend to live. The birth rate is going to plummet through the floor. The whole time I lived in Southern California and East Asia, all of the twenty-somethings I knew were either career-oriented or liked to live a party-oriented, bohemian life-style. None of them talked about "settling down" and having kids. I will also add that the Asian young people are becoming more "post-modern" in this regard than many of the American young people (but not Aussie or European). I really think that we can let go of our fears of over-population. Doomsday stuff in General: I have been hearing this doomsday stuff since I've been in sixth grade. I am now 40 years old. I've been hearing it for so long that I think it a bunch of twaddle. Global warming is just the latest incarnation of this stuff. It is worth knowing that the lead promugators of global warming are the same people who were warning us about global cooling in the late 60's to mid 70's. The one consistant characteristic that these people all share is an animosity towards free-market liberalism and personal freedom, in general. Other Stuff: I am now selling, world-wide, a biochip scanner developed by my friend in Taiwan. It works with most biochips and we are seeking biochip manufacturers (those that do not make their own scanners) as business development partners. We are also considering developing an automated system for cell cultivation. As some of you know, biotechnology lab techniques are currently labor intensive with a low-level of automation. One of the reasons for the success of semiconductor manufacturing is due to automation. We believe that biotechnology offers a market opportunity for automation and instrumentation. The word on the street (in Asia) is that the Beijing government is set to pass laws redically de-regulating biotech industry in China, as well as to increase state-funding of biotech; as part of an effort to ensure that China becomes the global leader in biotechnology (nanotech is just a funky version of biotech). Even though the quality of Chinese research is still low, it is improving rapidly and we think that it will improve more as a result of these current initiatives on the part of the Beijing government. The major centers of biotech are greater Shanghai (which has many beautiful women) and Guangdong province (in the south, near Hong Kong). It is this market that my friends in Taiwan and I want to sell into. If you know of any biotech companies that need a sales agent in China, please let me know.
