Has anyone really considered the free market implications on health care as absolute cures for diseases are considered? Just on supply and demand and free market basis what is the incentive for a company to cure themselves out of a market? Why should pharma companies cure cancer when they are making so much money, hand over fist, just treating it? Want to know what possibly is the real reason truly cure promising medical technology such as stem cell research and therapeutic cloning is under current administration attack? It's convenient to blame the religious right, and they do play a part (but who is pushing their buttons I wonder?), but don't forget big pharma, maybe follow the campaign money. Just think about supply and demand as medical care goes. As more people are cured, there is less demand, yes? Doesn't this mean prices go up? Will the birth rate bringing new people as customers be enough to offset this? If not then it might be that unless the government, uncorrupted by corporate influence (as if that were possible -- some real changes needed to make that happen) and truly seeking to please their constituents, artificially level the playing field via tax paid government subsidy, maybe not everyone will be getting cured. > which is of course what gives NW >Europeans their longer life spans (they live about 3 years longer on >average than Americans). > >But I have no idea how he feels about cryonics. He is also the likely winner of the Dems nomination. Bush has no Repooplican (they keep bringing up and trying the same old failed crap) competition. >Message #22846 >Date: Sat, 15 Nov 2003 11:11:28 -0800 (PST) >From: Randall Burns <> >Subject: Re: CryoNet #22838 - #22842 > >Have anyone ever contacted members of the Islamic >clergy for their opinions on Cryonics? I hope, though, that this is not the case especially as it was I that first reported that vote here. Those who understand this are strongly encouraged to modify this to fit their personality, and add this to their signature file, and organize to recover our freedom from Big Brother. For those who wait until they are sick, it will be too late.
