Dear Cryoneters,

Speaking about research in Russia it s just been announced today in the
Russian press that a 35-year old Russian Aluminum tycoon Oleg Deripaska, who
graduated with honors from the Department of Physics of the Moscow State
University and is worth US$1,5 billion according to the Forbes magazine, is
financing a project called by the Russian press the Elixir of Immortality with
the Institute of Physical-Chemical Biology of the Moscow State University. He
just gave the Institute US$ 120,000 for the first six months of the project,
which is expected to cost US$ 600,000 for the next 5 years. A member of the
Russian Academy of Science Vladimir Skulachev is personally overseeing the
project. (http://www.kp.ru/daily/23158/24704/ for those who read Russian)
Apparently it is a research to stop programmed cell death.

I say, Oleg, if you are worth US$ 1.5 bln you can sure do a lot better than the
US$ 120,000. Why not start a cryonics research firm.

I guess we have to wait 5 years to see what happens.

Regards,

Andre
