I still have a lot to learn about posting on cryonet! You are correct: a law is a freedom denied. Some "freedoms" should be denied such as the freedom to initiate non-consential force, the freedom to commit fraud and the freedom to violate contracts. Without those prohibitions I find it hard to imagine how a civilization could survive collapse. In my opinion a government that limited itself to preventing those three things could be supported with a small sales tax. Everything else, roads, schools, welfare, etc. should be the responsibility of the private sector. With all other taxes and regulatory cost gone, people and companies would be enormously more wealthy and able to pick up the cost of those "other things".
