X-Message-Number: 23452 From: Date: Wed, 18 Feb 2004 11:18:22 EST Subject: addendum In my earlier post I forgot a couple of things (probably more): Jerry Leaf served in the Special Forces in Viet Nam. I understand this is strictly voluntary. Richard C. Davis, one of the four charter members of CI, once found himself alone in the street confronted by three gunmen trying to rob him. He only had a .22 pistol, but in the shoot-out he wounded and captured all three. One said later that the .22 "sounded like a machine gun." Rich didn't have a concealed weapons permit at the time, but the police were so happy that they issued him one, back-dated. I'm not saying that every cryonicist is fearless. We vary widely, in this as in other things. But besides all of them having the moral courage to break with tradition, many do have physical courage as well. It might not be a bad idea to incorporate some of this in Youniverse. Those who can supply additional examples for me, please do.
