I know Jack Marburger -- he was a physics professor at Stony Brook in 1996, when I started grad school there. He had just recently gone back to teaching after a long stint as university president. Much as I can't stand the Shrub in the White House, I have to say that I thought Jack was a thoroughly decent guy. Sounds like he's different when he is in underling mode, though, as opposed to when he is in teaching mode or in administrative mode (e.g. as univeristy prez or as director of Brookhaven National Lab). =>Long Life, =>Matthew Matthew S. QUOTE OF THE WEEK: "The powers in charge keep us in a perpetual state of fear, keep us in a continuous stampede of patriotic fervor with the cry of grave national emergency. Always there has been some terrible evil to gobble us up if we did not blindly rally behind it by furnishing the exorbitant sums demanded. Yet, in retrospect, these disasters seem never to have happened, seem never to have been quite real." --General Douglas MacArthur Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=23784
