Hugh mentions that Austin fits the criteria if Alcor wanted to look at
Texas. He's correct. He's also correct when he says that Texas does not
compare with California in terms of Alcor membership. To the best of my
knowledge, there are two Alcor members in Austin and fewer than a half-
dozen - only two of whom I have met personally - spread across the rest of
the state. IMHO it would not be reasonable to move here unless a LOT of
personnel wanted to become Texans. Sure, a big enough cadre, and local
publicity, will attract new local members in time; the local population
includes lots of students and knowledge workers. How much time? I don't
know. If existing local membership is an important consideration, rule
Austin out.
