Subject: Securing cryonics?
From: David Stodolsky <>

Periodically, there are discussions on the List about how cryonics
might be promoted by giving gratis suspensions to famous persons, etc.
Unfortunately, it seems like these efforts rarely succeed. For example,
in one case where the choice was between a free suspension and a paid
holiday, the person chose the holiday.

Perhaps a more effective strategy would be to offer a gratis suspension
as a incentive to a group, that would have as its objective to organize
a self-sustaining organization in a new country, that could eventually
have its own cryonics facilities.

The advantage to the cryonics movement would be an alternative
political environment, should that in the USA, for example, became
unfavorable. Since the incentive would be 'in kind', the 'cost' would
be minimal. The publicity generated would be continuing, not a one time
event as with a famous person.

The group would be required to organize itself in a manner that would
eventually make it self-financing, but would have the gratis suspension
available once it satisfied the organizational requirements.
