X-Message-Number: 2460 Date: 14 Nov 93 07:21:20 EST From: Mike Darwin <> Subject: CRYONICS Noisy Dewars In my little discourse on infectious disease I forgot to mention an interesting fact which I have never seen mentionmed elsewhere: it is noisy inside cryogenic dewars. In fact, it sounds like the ocean or listening to an open sodo can up close. In short, while stratification in the liquid no doubt does occur, do not forget that liquid nitrogen in a dewar is a slowly BOILING liquid. It is NOT evaporating it is BOILING, albeit weakly.
