Subject: Comparing Organizations

I find it interesting that Mr. Ettinger believes I was comparing Alcor
and CI in a recent public announcement, since Alcor's press release never
made a direct comparison with CI or any other organization. However, in the
spirit in which his comments were made, I agree wholeheartedly that for the
good of the industry, we should refrain from "all comparisons or mention of
the other."

Perhaps, in the spirit of that context, Mr. Ettinger would consider
removing the voluminous amount of misinformation, inaccuracies, and outright
direct comparisons between CI and Alcor on the CI website, on the "Comparing
Procedures and Policies" page.

My statement was simply a verbalization of what I believe to be a factual
reality, that overall, Alcor is the best there is. That doesn't mean that
Alcor can "claim superiority by every criterion." Certainly, CI does
valuable and credible research. But when one compares my single, isolated,
and relatively benign comment with the numerous competitively aggressive
statements made on the CI website about Alcor, its procedures, its pricing,
its protocols, its technological direction, etc, etc, the whole things seems
a bit incredulous to me.

As Mr. Ettinger said, he and I have never met. I hope we do meet someday
soon to discuss cryonics, philosophy, theology, and any other topic he finds
interesting. Perhaps he'll be kind enough to invite me to Michigan one day
for a tour of CI's facility. He's certainly welcome to visit me here at
Alcor any time he chooses.

Meanwhile, I propose that the "no comparison" rule be a two-way street.
CI's website would be a great "good faith" place to start to implement that
concept. And Mr. Ettinger, I think you're correct. It really isn't all that
important.
